Eric is a multi-woodwind instrumentalist. He plays flute, alto flute, EWI, (a unique sounding electronic woodwind instrument that can play many sounds) and alto sax.

Eric's parents (Bob and Barbara) greatly influenced his love for music.  As a child, he fondly remembers his parents constantly playing albums (from The Beatles, to classical, to jazz) and attending concerts (The Monterey Jazz Festival).  They encouraged Eric to choose an instrument to learn before he entered junior high school. They were high school sweethearts who also had musical talent (Bob played the clarinet in junior high school for the Deputy Police Auxilary Band in Pasadena, California and Barbara played the sousaphone in the Grossmont High School Marching Band in La Mesa, California). As Eric contemplated which instrument to choose, he remembered how much he enjoyed listening to some of the jazz flautist records (Paul Horn, Herbie Mann and Rahsaan Roland Kirk) that his mom and dad played.  Eric loved the earthiness, vibe, soulfulness and sound of the flute.  When Eric made his choice, his grandfather, Ted Bass, found out of his interest.  Grandpa Ted, Barbara's father, was a band director for several schools including Chula Vista High School.  Ted gladly gave Eric his first flute and his first flute lesson. So, the gift for music, the love for music was a legacy passed on to Eric.

He began his career as a professional musician early in high school in San Diego and did many recordings, touring with rock bands Mutt and West. After becoming a Christian, he began playing music that conveyed more eternal themes. Eric has been a featured performer at a wide array of concerts, venues and churches in Southern California, Northern California, New Mexico and Arizona.

He has the privilege of leading worship in numerous churches and at special events. He has produced two previous CDs and will be releasing a third “Waves of Grace” with singer/songwriter David Eugene Ivey. Eric is inspired by diverse musical influences from classical to jazz to rock to new age that help define the diversity and passion in his music.

I love being alive... life is a story waiting to be told... a journey... music, art, creativity, worship... it is all a joy... as are the people who surround me: family, treasured friends and acquaintances... all relationships are beautiful and rich. Each day, I marvel at the wonder of life... and as I awake, I love the freshness of a new dawn... I’m especially drawn to the beauty and mystery of the ocean. The majesty of the waves lead me to an amazing love. A love that envelopes me... waves tug and draw me graciously and consistently to the Spirit of Life and Light that wash over me... bringing light, peace and fullness to a once stranded soul... I am the story of…..“Waves of Grace”
